<p>A native of New Jersey, Pollinger graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, as class valedictorian and moved to Monte Carlo to work at the world-renowned Le Louis XV under Chef Alain Ducasse. Upon returning to New York, Pollinger worked for Chef Christian Delouvrier at Les Celebrites and Lespinasse. He spent more than seven years expanding his repertoire with Chef Michael Romano at Union Square Café and Chef Floyd Cardoz at Tabla. Throughout his early career, he developed his particular passion for seafood, intrigued by the broad variety of possibilities and the challenge of preparing delicate ingredients with subtlety and aplomb.</p>

<p>Through his work and extensive travels in France, Italy, and Spain, Pollinger has deepened his appreciation for seasonal ingredients and regional flavors. He gained a profound respect for the complexities that go into creating a stellar dish: the devotion of farmers to the soil and the fishermen to their day’s catch; the thoughtful application of precise techniques to pure ingredients; and the exchange between chefs and the diners they host. As an avid gardener, Pollinger also finds inspiration for his 500-sqaure-foot organic garden at home in New Jersey, which often provides the herbs and spices that flavor his menus for Oceana. When he joined Oceana as executive chef in 2006, he brought with him the skills and desire to create an extraordinary dining experience based on this philosophy. <p>A map showing all the best vantage points and times to witness The Grand Event sailaway has been released. Starting with the sailaway from Southampton, the map charts the progress of the seven ships out into the Solent, meaning that onlookers and well-wishers can secure themselves a good spot to observe the historical event.</p>

<p>P&amp;O Cruises managing director, Carol Marlow, said: “This day is one of the most significant days in our history, as all our seven ships gather in their home port on the same day for the first time ever. As we look forward to exciting plans for our next new ship in 2015, it is fitting to be celebrating our past as it has helped us become known as Britain’s trusted cruise experts.”</p>

<p>As each ship departs on its own Grand Event cruise, passengers on board will enjoy a special deck party to see them off in style. The ships will then form a procession as they leave Southampton and head down the Solent. Where the channel widens, the ships will move into a formation to be photographed from the air before they sail onwards to their various destinations. </p>

<p>Departing on July 3, 2012, all seven cruises will be heritage themed with special on board entertainment including a 175th Anniversary Gala dinner, heritage display, guest speakers and more. <p> Anxieties about blockbuster drugs coming off patent in the pharmaceutical industry have led to many companies looking for alternative barriers to competition for their older products.  It has also sparked a renewed interest in finding new indications for off patent drug molecules.  These companies are seeking out PharmaDirections to take advantage of their PK modeling tools and formulation development techniques that can lead to new intellectual property or can prolong the market life of old products. </p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>While most new drugs are protected by their composition of matter (COM) patents, their patent life is only 20 years and up to 12 years of that could be used up in development and clinical testing (California BioMedical Research Organization).  The companies who need to extend patent life beyond the COM or who have found new indications are increasing looking for new ways to protect their franchise.  PharmaDirections provides a multitude of techniques to help them out.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>One of PharmaDirections’ most useful techniques is combining pharmacokinetic (PK) modeling with formulation development.  The scientists at PharmaDirections are skilled in evaluating existing clinical and PK data in order to find problems that can be solved with new approaches.  The use PK modeling to find a plasma profile that will solve an existing problem and then work backwards to design a corresponding in-vivo dissolution profile.  The formulation development exerts can use that dissolution to design a novel formulation.  When the reduction to practice is completed, it is the pharmacokinetic parameters that are claimed which effectively prohibits generic competition.  All intellectual property generated by PharmaDirections is considered &#8220;works for hire&#8221; which means that clients do not have to pay royalties or residuals.</p>

<p>Combining formulation development with pharmacokinetic modeling has led to over 10 patents that have been filed for PharmaDirections&#8217; clients.  The additional emphasis will allow these techniques to be offered to an increasing number of similar projects.</p>
